if shadows could speak, what would they say?

This project is an exploration of emotion through color association using portrait and silhouette photography.

The main concept is to recreate a color wheel that is read by the audience continuously. The portrait shots are meant to be objective to the audience in which the color correlates with the emotion, as opposed to the silhouette landscape shots that are subjective for the viewer in which they make their own connection to the emotion displayed.

This work was constructed in a studio setting with gel filters placed over lights. For the portrait shots, there was a 2 light setup with one backfill light and one key light. For the silhouette shots, there was a setup of two backfill lights. All photos were taken with the Canon Rebel SL2
